Building memories

We been making these christmas cookies ever since my oldest children were little. Now we make it a day. We had my youngest 2 girls, my daughter, my 3 grandsons, and my 2 sweet daughters-in-laws(is that right?).

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Today is my deadline for finishing my decorating...

the girls are coming for our annual baking day (see results later)...

In the land of blog craziness!

I spent all day yesterday working on this banner...Can anyone help me figure out how to make it wider?

I know just enough to be really dangerous!

My birthday rocker...

I love my new rocker...
so perfect for sitting by the fire...
I found this at one of my favorite local "shabby chic" shops.
It was already painted-so I didn't have to be the "bad" guy:)
I've been into antiques for so long that it is hard for me to paint "true" antiques.

It is sooo comfy!

My Christmas Parlor

My idea of deep cleaning-just move all of my junque' to another room!
But we did get this room cleaned up and are enjoying its coziness!
I'll post another room next week!

CHAOS, anyone?

Can't have anyone over syndrome...
from "flylady"

The "painting season" is officiallly over-with daytime highs of 42 degrees-my outside painting days are over until spring (unless we figure out some way to rig up a indoor spray booth) so I will turn my attention to my neglected house. My girls are reminding me that we decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. YIKES! So here is my "before " picture...I hope to be back next week with a Christmas Parlor.

I've been tagged by Lisa at A Thing for Roses.

I'm new at this but I'll play!

1. I've been married to my highschool sweetheart for over 27 years.
2.We are currently restoring our 6th old house. It truly is a labor of love.
3.I LOVE antiques and have been collecting for years-I tell my DH to forget getting me diamonds-oak will be work much better!
4.I LOVE rose dishes-in fact, my boys had quite the time teasing me about how I could possibly use another one but I just can't pass them by.
5.My favorite dessert is blackberry pie made by my own in-house chef (DD)
6.My favorite movie is "The Importance of Being Earnest" with Colin Firth.
7.I'm happiest with a paintbrush in hand. I just have to have a project going.

You're it!

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

How did a self-proclaimed victorian-style purist get to this decorating style?
I don't know but here I am!

Why do I love it so much?

It's warm, it's worn and well-loved, it's simple, it's homey,
it's peaceful, it's inexpensive,
it's a contrast (shabby but chic),
and it's HAPPY!

Welcome to Miss Gracie's house!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge him and HE will make your paths straight.
